It began in late 2017 when our founder, a software developer based in Manchester, grew increasingly frustrated with persistent video calls dropping and sluggish file uploads. The standard speed test tools available felt inconsistent, cluttered with ads, or suspiciously favorable. Driven by a need for a reliable, clean, and accurate benchmark, he built a simple testing script for his local neighborhood forum. The positive response was immediate and overwhelming; neighbors used it to collectively challenge their provider's service claims, proving the tool's practical value.

This local success was the catalyst for a more ambitious vision. In 2018, NetVelocity UK was formally established. The initial focus was on perfecting the core internet speed test experience—making it faster, more accurate, and accessible on any device. We invested in establishing our own network of dedicated servers across key UK internet exchange points, from London to Edinburgh, to reduce latency and improve test fidelity. Word-of-mouth and organic search traffic saw our user base grow exponentially, transforming the project from a community service into a nationally recognized platform for connection verification.

The period from 2020 onward marked a significant turning point. As the world shifted to remote work and learning, reliable internet became a critical utility, not a luxury. Demand for our speed test surged, and with it, requests for more sophisticated data. Users weren't just asking "how fast?" but "why is it slow?" and "how do I fix it?". In response, we expanded our service portfolio beyond the free public test, developing our Advanced Network Diagnostics and Business Auditing services.
